Welcome to the glamour and light of Oriental Dance! In these classes you will learn Classical Oriental and Folkloric styles, where they origninate geographically, socially and ritually, and how and when the music calls for specific elements.  All Belly Dance comes from Folkloric, and your Styling and Interpretation and Professionalism will improve vastly with this indispenable knowledge. This session we will explore musical interpretation, (when do we travel, ei. which rhythm tells us to travel and or stay grounded, which instrument sounds are staccato or longato and how do you vary your moves to show the music) and, always, technique. Each class will end with a combination for you to dance within a song to which you otherwise improvise.  You will learn what separates Egyptian Style from American and when and where you may choose to use elements of each.

The foundation of the class is based on 5 main elements:
  • Footwork
  • Breathing technique
  • Energy distribution and control
  • Basic movements and steps and manipulation of movements and steps.
